Johns Hopkins Talent Search

Applications for the 2013-2014 Johns Hopkins Elementary Student Talent Search are now being accepted.  This program offers an objective assessment of your highly able student’s mathematical and verbal reasoning abilities.

The Institute for the Academic Advancement of Youth Elementary Talent Search is open to all third, fourth, and fifth grade students who have scored at or above the 95th percentile on particular subtests of standardized tests such as the Cognitive Abilities Test or the STAR Reading and Math Tests, or who have earned an advanced score on any Standards of Learning test.

Participation in the Talent Search begins with the submission of a Talent Search application.  You will then receive information allowing you to register for the SCAT test.   The SCAT test is given as an above-grade-level test to better assess the mathematical and verbal reasoning abilities of highly able students. After taking the SCAT, students with qualifying scores will receive summer program catalogues.  In addition, participation provides an opportunity for recognition at the state level for top scoring participants.

An application and details about the procedures of the program can be found online at www.cty.jhu.edu.  The school code for TJ is 2204618, should you decide to apply.  If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me at langh@fccps.org.
