Operation: Operation

While experimenting with batteries, bulbs, and wires the other day, some fourth graders realized that if you didn’t touch metal to metal, the chances of getting your light bulb to shine were nil.  One of the kids said, “Like in the game Operation.  The guy’s nose doesn’t light up if your metal tweezers don’t touch the metal on the game board.”

And that’s when this wacky idea was born:  what if we tore apart an Operation game board to see how it worked?  You can check out the video capturing the event here:

Operation:  Operation!

Thanks to Ms. Allan’s class for letting me borrow you for this bit of inquiry!  What a fun way to spend an afternoon!!
