Snowing in June!

Fourth grade Math Level 2 students have been busy finalizing a special snowflake project.  After learning about modular numbers and the patterns in Pascal’s Triangle, the kids created a mash up involving the two ideas.

Teams of 4 to 7 students selected a modular number on which they could focus their efforts and, working together, crafted a plan to color code each set of modular numbers on Pascal’s Triangle. If everyone on the team did their math properly, and if everyone coordinated their color selections, then when they laid out all their triangles a colorful, whimsical snowflake appeared!

This is one of those situations where a picture is definitely worth a thousand words, so check out this video to see what I’ve been trying to say!  A Little Bit of Math Fun
